So Drea was looking at our chicken today and said to me, "you know that star wars movie with the wierd looking guy, you know with the eyes. I think Fore (our chicken) looks just like him." I just wanted to put this out there so that you would know that this blog was Drea's idea, not mine. Let's just say the geek is strong in her.
Cheers,

Drea might be losing her mind
Hey All,
Sorry for the dearth of postings. I'd like to say I've been busy. I'll actually say I've been lazy. Anyway, to start with the important stuff. We have named the chickens!!! After very little deliberation we went with Cuckoo for the one with the mohawk and Fore (with alternate Maori spelling;-) for the bald one. So for now we hope for the return of our beloved Puff so that when I go out in the morning to call in the chickens all I have to say is, "Cuckoo Fore Coco Puff!!!"
Cuckoo Fore Coco (in that order)
Last friday I had the wrap up of my project management course in Christchurch. I got up super early to catch my taxi to the airport with three of my coworkers. I should have stayed in bed. Long story short, the flight was delayed by half an hour before takeoff. Then in-flight, the pilot comes on and tells us that due to fog at the Christchurch airport we may have to reroute to Wellington. After two quick circles we find ourselves in the Wellington airport. We decided that it wouldn't make sense to fly to Christchurch for a one day class (that ends at 3) if it got to be later than 11. At exactly 10:59 we are asked to board the plane. Once on board, the pilot announces that they've neglected to load our luggage, so we wait another 45 minutes. An uneventful flight later we arrive in Christchurch and take the shuttle to the class, arriving just in time for lunch.
We were only 3 of the 4 people (out of a total of 12) that made the flight into Christchurch. An abbreviated and not exactly productive two hours later we headed back to the airport. Our flight home was scheduled for 5:40. As we waited in the airport bar for our flight we could see the fog start to roll back in. By the time we boarded the fog was pretty thick but planes were still being allowed to take off. We board the plane, get out on the tarmac, and then we sat there. And sat and sat and sat. 30 minutes later we roll slowly back to the terminal. We get off the plane but our flight hasn't been cancelled, so we book flights for tomorrow and a hotel room for tonight just in case while we wait. Sure enough, not 15 minutes after we disembark the fog magically disappears and planes start flying again. We wait 30 minutes before they allow us back on the plane. Then we wait. 5 people haven't gotten on board but have luggage on the plane. They wait for the 5 people while they search for their luggage. As we wait, sure enough, here comes the fog. Just as soon as they remove the bags, they decide to cancel the flight. So we're stuck in Christchurch.
But it worked out ok as work paid for a lovely dinner and hotel room and bonus, I won $80 at the Christchurch casino.

Drea's also been doing a lot of studying for her upcoming exam in August. Here's Drea studying with her very capable helper...
We've also started going to a monday night trivia game near Drea's work with our friend Tom and Frankie and Drea's coworker Danny. Here's some pictures after we won the "cheap drinks" hat. Woohoo!
And here's Tom doing an interpretive dance of Mrs. Doubtfire. If only we could blame that on the "cheap drinks" hat, but Tom was drinking apple juice. Oh the Humanity!!

Dave thinks that they tried to cast Richard Gere and Gene Simmons in one of the Batman movies (silly Dave, it was Die Hard!!!)

Also, to let you all know, we've booked a trip home in August to visit with everyone and so Drea can take her exams in boston. We will be in the area from August 14th through the 28th. Hopefully we get to see most of you, our beloved blog readers. (that's beloved readers, not beloved blog)
And finally to leave you, here is a video of Drea. Me thinks she be losing it.
